After being crowned world champion in the 500 meters the day before, Quebec Laurent Dubroil won another medal on Saturday at the World Long Track Speed Skating Championships in the Netherlands.

Dubroil is in the third stage of the podium at 1000 meters. The Dutchman Kai Verbiz won over the Russian Pavel Kuliznikov.
“My race is good, but I don’t know if it’s enough,” Dubroil said in a statement sent to Speed Skating Canada. On Friday (when he won the 500m), the weather said it all. My time would not have been today (Saturday) if Thomas Kroll had not made two false starts. I had a good race, but it was my good fortune that one of the three favorites was disqualified, which never happened. I’m proud of the work I’ve done even though it’s not the right race. ”
Friday, the 500m at the World Championships after Jeremy Wotherspoon in 2008. Dubroil became the first Canadian to win gold in and is only the second in history to achieve this feat. Otherspoon also won in 2003 and 2004.
On behalf of the women, Ivani Blandin won the fifth medal of her career at the Mass Start World Championships, her silver.
