National Order of Quebec: Ali Nestor's appointment suspended

Former boxer and coach Ali Nestor Chevalier de l’Ordre suspended his National du Quebec nomination on Monday on charges of assault and sexual harassment he faces.

The man who founded his company, Ali et les, in the early 2000s should be honored on June 22 to help young people in need.

“The appointment of Mr. Nestor is to bring official charges and time will be suspended to see if he is found guilty,” the Treasury Board Secretariat confirmed via email.

Ali Nestor’s ex-wife filed a complaint last week alleging assault and sexual harassment that pushed a veteran graduate out of politics. Presented as Special Adviser to Denise Coder on the post of Mayor of Montreal.

“I know the complaint has been filed. I have no statement about it. If ever there is an allegation, I want to exercise my rights and protect myself,” Mr Nestor said in a press release following the withdrawal.

His ex-wife brought the complaint back to police last March. He is scheduled to appear in Joliet Court on May 26.
