A magnitude 6.1 earthquake shook the eastern coast of the Indonesian island of Celeb on Saturday, according to the US Institute of Geophysics.

No tsunami alert was issued and no immediate damage was reported.
The epicenter was reported 258 kilometers northeast of Manado, north of the island. Its depth is 68 kilometers.
Indonesia regularly experiences earthquakes or volcanic eruptions, due to its location on the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, tectonic plates ide.
The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued. A magnitude 9.1 earthquake shook the region of Sumatra on December 26, 2004.
It was one of the deadliest natural disasters on record.
