This year, COVID-19 may not be the only respiratory virus that can lead to emergencies, especially with the return of conventions and influenza. That is why it invites people who are harmful to public health to be vaccinated against the flu.
“The number of viruses spreading is increasing, which shows that people are in contact with each other. So when the influenza virus comes, unfortunately, there is a risk of it being transmitted,” D UnderlineR Sylvain Ledak, Regional Director of Public Health.
“In our pediatric units, there is a strong activity of the syncytial virus, which can lead to hospitalization, so in addition if we add the flu, it is added to COVID-19, which is still circulating,” the doctor said.
The influenza vaccine campaign mainly targets people 75 years of age and older, those with a chronic illness, or pregnant women. People over the age of 60 can also get this vaccine for free.
“Activities will begin on the 1stIs November. So in general, the way we work for the influenza vaccine is to vaccinate our clients in the first step CHSLDs, “said Muriel Therian, director of vaccination at CISSS du Boss-Saint-Laurent.
In CHSLDs, public health vaccination teams are expected to take advantage of the administration of 3E Kovid-19 vaccine dose to provide flu vaccine.
“At the same time we are going to give them their dose 3, we are vaccinating them with the influenza vaccine at the same time,” M said.To me Therian.
Two types of vaccines are available at the eight existing vaccination sites in Boss-Saint-Laurent.
