Four Fighters Frontman appeared on the Howard Stern show on Tuesday to promote the rock band’s horror film Studio 666. But for half of the interview, the conversation was about how the musician’s hearing was damaged by his rock concert performances from the late 1980s.

“My ears are always tuned to specific frequencies,” the musician explained, noting that he could hear well in the recording studio, but made the social settings even more difficult. “If you were sitting next to me at a dinner party right here, I could not understand a single word you said to me,” he added.

“He’s the worst, masks in this pandemic. I’m been doing lip reading for 20 years. So someone came up to me (and said), ‘I’m a rock musician. I’m deaf. I can not hear what you are saying.

Dave Groll shared that he had been diagnosed with tinnitus and hearing loss and that his left ear was worse than his right ear. He said that although he could wear ear plugs on stage, they would only irritate him.

“I want to hear the audience in front of me and I want to turn around and listen to Taylor (Hawkins, drummer) right there. I’m had the same type of monitor for 31 years. . ”I have small ear holes and they come out when I put them on. I don’t like to look like a praying mantis with this stuff on my head. I want to go there and give my all, ”he explained.

Studio 666 is set to release on February 25 in Canada and the United States.
