Sept-Illes mayor, Steve Beaupre, described the images of a man deliberately killing a moose in the Moisey sector as shocking.

“We cannot tolerate this kind of behavior, this kind of gesture, which is completely uncalled for and premeditated,” he told TVA Novelles on Thursday.

Steve Beaupre, a former criminal and criminal prosecuting attorney, condemned the man’s behavior.

He wants investigators from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and wildlife officials to charge the man.

“I hope the Department of Wildlife and Parks will continue their investigation, leading to convictions and even convictions. The Sûreté du Québec, according to the latest information, met the person,” he added.

Remember that the investigation has been going on since pictures were posted on social networks showing the man driving his van into the animals.

A suspect has been arrested and a vehicle seized, but a file will be handed over to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) to see if charges can be laid, the SQ confirmed.

Under the Wildlife Act, killing big game with a vehicle is a first offense and carries a fine of $2,500 per count.

The regional police can also lay charges for cruelty to animals.

Citizens have also posted a petition online, seeking charges.
