Eligible vehicles are 2006-2013 Civics and 2006-2011 Acura CSXs. The maximum amount employers can receive is $2,675.
Restoring the vehicle, however, costs between $6,000 and $8,000. According to Francis Boulanger, director of Fix Auto Sherbrooke, many owners take the check but don’t make the repairs.
As the problem does not affect the reliability of the vehicle and does not increase the risk of corrosion, the problem is purely cosmetic. And owners have already been living with an aesthetically lagging vehicle for years.
