(Montreal) The Canadian Food Inspection Agency on Saturday issued a recall for bags of Alasco brand frozen whole raspberries and frozen antioxidant mix due to the presence of norovirus.
Both products, sold in one and five kilogram containers, are distributed in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec.
The main symptoms of illnesses caused by norovirus are diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and abdominal cramps.
People exposed to the virus usually show symptoms within 24 to 48 hours, but symptoms can appear as early as 12 hours after exposure, the agency said.
As with any illness that causes diarrhea or vomiting, it is recommended to drink plenty of fluids to replace lost body fluids and prevent dehydration.
This frozen fruit should not be eaten, used, sold, served or distributed. Throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
