New facilities for the automated distribution of fresh and frozen foods opened Thursday in Varennes, Monteregi, after an investment of more than $240 million.
The automated distribution center — which benefited from a $33.4 million loan from Quebec for its construction — is operated by the Robert Group, which specializes in freight distribution and warehousing services.
“The establishment of this state-of-the-art center will integrate the Quebec supply chain by ensuring the distribution of fresh products throughout our territory,” underlined the Minister of Economy, Innovation and Development. Inauguration
The Robert Group also received a $15 million investment for the building, which is made of thick insulating panels, allowing it to embrace new sustainable development practices.
“The benefits of our new refrigerated distribution center extend beyond the walls of this facility. This will strengthen the food supply chain throughout Quebec and beyond, ensuring more efficient and reliable distribution to our current and future consumers,” stated Michel Robert, President and CEO of Groupe Robert.
