"Gen Z" has its quick jobs

Two Generation Z entrepreneurs had so much trouble finding employees that they invested their money in designing a mobile application that will launch in Quebec this fall to solve the problem.

“We need to reduce paperwork, speed it up,” says Aya Sgar, 21, the brains behind Pagato, which lets you find temporary workers in a few clicks.

When she founded her house cleaning service in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in 2022, she discovered placement agencies. She had 10 times as many clients, had to find people, was inundated with forms to fill out.

“Really, it's long when you need someone there, not tomorrow,” explains the entrepreneur, who dropped out after two sessions in computer science at McGill to run a business.

His meeting, two and a half years ago, with 23-year-old “Gen Z” was decisive. Gianluca Faraone became her first investor, after her – who believed in her idea the most.

Together, they built the start-up from A to Z. With $500,000, they coded the app, wrote the terms, created a marketing strategy, and tested the product with owners. They did not stop for a moment.

This fall, after 14 months of work, they are ready to launch Pagato across Quebec. Young people — and not so young — now have access to eight-hour shifts that pay an average of $170 if they want to earn some money.

30 to 40 owners are already working five to six shifts a day. However, you have to get up early if you want to be among the five or six selected for the day.

“It's going fast, but it's just the beginning, we'll have more soon,” Aya Sgar assured.

In 2022, when his home-cleaning service Espace Zen explodes and falls short of demand, this is the app he needs.

Pagato currently works well in events and distribution. Whether it's the eighth server or the 14th for a Saturday weddinge Packer for rush On Tuesday's delivery, Baby App finds you as an employee.

Its partnership with Zūm Rails, a fintech Montreal, which allows workers to be verified and paid by transfer up to three hours after the end of a shift.

Aya Sgar and Gianluca Farron have had the same vision since they started working at Pagato in July 2023. Instant Work, Instant Pay, let's goNo time to fool around.

Their marketing focuses on TikTok to find youth, a tablet weather application to find employers.

Worthy representatives of their generation, it would be wrong to underestimate Aya and Gianluca. Who doesn't dream of a pool of workers ready to fill a shift at a moment's notice?
