Three years after Hydro-Québec announced its intention to build a $735 million data center on farmland in Beauharnois, the American giant still hasn't received its megawatts.
“We still want to get the power, but are waiting for the necessary approvals,” indicates the American giant Google when asked The Journal.
“We continue to work with municipal and provincial authorities to obtain the necessary authorizations to move forward with this project,” we add.
The data centers of the giant Google will make it possible to operate the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we mentioned in the project presentation document from May 2021.

“A stalled project»
How many megawatts (MW) is Google asking for its project in its current form? The company declines to say.
“It's still a stalled project, but I still believe in it,” shared Bruno Tremblay, the former mayor of Beauharnois who was in office at the time.

At the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ), it says it is “not involved in monitoring the project”, while at the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Innovation (MEIE) we do not comment on projects publicly.
