‘Stop using immediately’: Many popular wipe products sold in Canada are recalled due to fears of infection

Health Canada has largely recalled several wipe products sold in the Halton area and across Canada due to pollution causing infections.

The recall includes the products of Catanelle & Catanelle Gentle Plus Flushable Wipes. The company reported that more than two million units of the affected products were sold in Canada.

“Some of the products recalled may be Pluralibacter gergovia, a common household microorganism,” Health Canada said in a statement. “Pluralibacter gergovia can cause serious infections in healthy people. People with a weakened immune system, those with a pre-existing acute condition, those who have been treated surgically or those who belong to another sensitive group are at higher risk of infection if they use a contaminated product. ”

The affected products were sold from February 14, 2020 to October 7, 2020, Health Canada said.

As of October 7, the company had not received any reports of incidents or serious injuries in Canada.

Health Canada recalls that “consumers should immediately stop using and dispose of the product they remember,” and buyers should contact Kimberly-Clark (distributor) for a refund and information about the disposal.

The affected products were sold in several stores, including Costco.
