Donations to fire victims

After one A fire destroyed the apartment building Tuesday morning And the city of Penticton, which claimed the lives of two residents, is encouraging people to donate to the Penticton’s Salvation Army store and the Red Cross.
“Clothing, bedding and similar items can be donated to the Salvation Army Store Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 5pm, while cash donations can be sent at the Red Cross. redcross.ca/donate, ”Said Adam Goodwin, the city’s social development strategist.
Those who caught fire at 217 Elm Avenue will be given a special voucher at the Salvation Army store to shop for the items they need.
The Red Cross also provides emergency assistance to those who are uninsured. All donations made will support this and other future emergencies.
“Our community is enlightened by the compassion, empathy and care we have for one another,” Penticton Mayor John told residents. “Residents and businesses are calling on the city to ask where they can best support those who come, so I am grateful to see the Salvation Army and the Red Cross come forward to help as always. This is another example of our close community working together when needed.”
The Salvation Army would like to remind the community that due to space constraints, limited furniture items can only be accepted in good condition. All donated items go into the Salvation Army’s general inventory and ensure firefighters have access to the full inventory of its store.
The Salvation Army is open to anyone in need, and will not repel those in need.
