1 new case of COVID-19 was reported in PEI on Wednesday

PEI Chief Public Health Officer Dr Heather Morrison confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in the province.

The man, a 30-year-old rotating worker, recently returned to the province after a “domestic voyage” outside the Atlantic bubble, a news release said.

The man tested negative for COVID-19 on November 6, but tested positive on November 10. The man had six intimate relationships and was self-isolated for 14 days, the CPHO said.

As a precaution, CPHO advises people visiting businesses to monitor symptoms and test if they experience:

  • Red and White hardware store at Ellersley, PEI on November 9 between 3 and 4 p.m.
  • Walmart on Summerside, PEI on November 10 from 9am to 10am

At this time, there is no evidence of a community outbreak of COVID-19 on Prince Edward Island and the risk of transmission is low.

This brings the total number of active cases of COVID-19 to four. There have been a total of 68 positive cases of COVID-19 on Prince Edward Island since the outbreak began.
