Virginia KKK leader drove pickup truck for protesters: lawyer

A Ku Klux Klan leader from Virginia was arrested for allegedly driving his truck into a crowd of protesters, according to a report.

Harry Rogers, 36, was accused of updating his engine and motorcycle by a group of demonstrators assembled at an average of 5:45 pm on Richmond Road. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports, Citing a district attorney.

Police said the man at the scene was checked for injuries but refused medical treatment.

Henrico Commonwealth prosecutor Shannon Taylor called the alleged episode “horrific and disgusting” and said her office would “prosecute the full extent of the law.”

Taylor said Rogers, who has suffered a number of allegations, including malicious injury, is “the acknowledged leader of the Ku Klux Klan and campaigner for Confederate ideology.”

The report said his office weighs the potential for hate crimes.

In an interview with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Rogers ‘girlfriend said she was trying to flee from protesters when her 14-year-old son was hit by a passenger in Rogers’ truck.

“He was trying to drive through an average to get my son out of danger,” he told the paper.

Police are investigating those allegations.

Confederate General A. B. Rogers went out on Sunday to hear protesters gather near the Hill statue, his girlfriend said.

He planned to “watch” and report to the police if the statue was destroyed.

“He didn’t go there with violent tendencies,” his girlfriend said.
