Author Michelle Jean won the VLEE Prize this week for hosting the first edition for her novel Cucumber, Deposage published in France. His independent publishing house is one of 10 finalists in the “Publishers” category.
In his novel, Michelle Jean describes the forced stagnation of indigenous communities through her yet great-grandfather story. Published by Libre Expression in Quebec, the book also won the France-Quebec Prize. It has sold over 65,000 copies, a huge success!
