Five green cars identified as Formula 1

In 2021, Quebec Lance Strol and his teammate Sebastian Vettel will be behind the wheel of the AMR21 single-seater, which not only marks the return of Aston Martin to Formula 1, but also the green color.

Here are five single-seater features, each in their own way, a history of the main category of motorsport.

Lotus 25

The first F1 car to use the unibody structure, the Lotus 25 ruled the rain and shone for many years between 1960 and 1965, behind the wheel with Jim Clark for Team Lotus.

The single-seater, green with a yellow stripe on the muzzle, allowed Clark to win 14 Grand Prix and two championships. Similarly, Lotus 33, came after him and won five events with a similar distribution at the same time.

The pictures of Clark driving these two cars are, to this day, one of the most famous films in F1 history.

Jordan191

When Jordan opened in 1991, the first delivery of the Irish team caused a stir. Available in blue and green, the car features the logo of its sponsor 7Up. If the first race was complicated for the young team, Andrea de Cesaris has picked up two fourth places this season.

Funny fact: Jordan was sold to the Midlands in 2005 before being taken over by Spyker the following year. The team later became Force India, then Racing Point and finally Aston Martin from this year. That way she comes back to the roots with a new green dress.

Jaguar

Jaguar played five seasons in the F1 from 2000 to 2004 and was green each time.

The HSBC-sponsored Jaguar F1 features white pontoons and five livers with muzzle sides as well as some red accents. Eddie Irwin led the team to the podium twice, finishing third in 2001 and 2002.

Aston Martin DBR4 and DBR5

Aston Martin will not appear for the first time on F1. In fact it was recorded without collecting a single point in the list of those who competed in six races in 1959 and 1960.

If they weren’t too fast, the two single-seaters of the English brand would say at least with their completely green paint.

Cotterham CT05

Cotterham – initially named Lotus and Team Lotus, but had nothing to do with the manufacturer Lotus – never scored a single point in F1. The company, which saw daylight in 2010, came close twice, ranking 11th in its five-season existence.

The CT05 was Cotterham’s last single-seater in 2005, and coincidentally, the last green car to enter the F1. It is one of the most original noses in the history of discipline.
