The sailor, who was part of the crew of the amphibious attack ship USS Bonhome Richard, “is alleged to have started the fire,” 3rd Fleet spokesman Commander Sean Robertson said in a statement. Gesture.

The USS Bonhome Richard was docked at its naval base, Naval Base San Diego, for maintenance when the fire broke out on July 12, 2020.
160 sailors were on board. The navy said 17 sailors and four civilians were slightly injured and taken to hospital.
Several firefighters also sustained burns and inhaled smoke.
It burned four days before firefighters put out the blaze. The U.S. Navy has been planning for some time to make repairs, but the damage was canceled in early 2021.
