In a black-and-white photo posted on Twitter and Instagram, two people are smiling and looking into each other’s eyes, appearing in a hospital room, each holding a small piece of clothing and holding a baby.
“We are delighted that Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigig welcomed our family,” wrote Pete Buttigig, one of the Democratic primaries for the 2020 presidential election.
The 39-year-old transportation minister tweeted, “Chasten and I are very grateful for all the greetings we have received since we announced we became parents.”

Pete Buttigig is a former mayor of South Bend, a medium-sized town in the state of Indiana. Unknown to the general public when the Democratic president submitted his candidacy for primaries in April 2019, this ex-soldier who flew through Afghanistan had an asteroid career.
According to the Victory Institute, he is “the first public LGBT person to be appointed to a permanent position in the Presidential Cabinet”.
