Spatial identity: CH’s “error” according to Ian Lafrenier

Ian Lafrenier, the minister in charge of local affairs, said the Montreal Canadians had “made a mistake” by broadcasting a message identifying unseen Mohawk territory before the start of their games.

“Especially for Montreal, we do not agree on who is ahead on a historical level, where it is complicated,” he told a press conference in the National Assembly on Wednesday.

He explained that in the event that the lands claimed by different indigenous countries overlap in “many places in Quebec”, it is best to avoid going there with the identification of specific territories.
