Kevin Spacey was sentenced to pay US $ 31M after losing the House of Cards case

American actor Kevin Spacey has been ordered to pay $ 31 million to the company that produced the “House of Cards” series he starred in until he is fired on sexual harassment charges, according to legal documents released Monday.

MRC, the production company behind the hit series on a political conspiracy in Washington, has sought compensation for lost revenue attributed to the actor’s exit from the series following allegations of sexual harassment and abuse.

In a legal document published, the MRC suspended the actor following allegations of harassment and launched an internal investigation, revealing that the star of the film “American Beauty” was indeed guilty of such acts.

The wave of allegations came to an abrupt end to the 62-year-old actor’s career amid the #Metoo movement’s campaign to condemn sexual harassment in Hollywood after revelations about producer Harvey Weinstein.

The two Oscar-winning actor played the role of an outspoken politician for five seasons in the “House of Cards” series before allegations of sexual harassment appeared in magazines.

The actor’s departure forced the producers to reorganize the series, which led to “significant losses”, and the MRC argued that the allegations of harassment had never been made public, as Kevin was previously unaware of the wrongdoing on behalf of Spacey.

The script had to be revised to exclude the role played by Kevin Spacey and revive the entire sixth season, reduced from 13 to eight episodes.
