In a letter to IOC President Thomas Bach on Saturday, the lawyers said they would ask the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to provide a copy of the AP receipt before a closing ceremony on Sunday.
Camila Valiva led the Russian team to victory in last week’s team event, while the United States finished second. Immediately, the 15-year-old skater was found to be positive on a doping test.
CAS allowed her to compete in the women’s event, but the IOC said it would not hold medal ceremonies in the events that placed her in the top three.
The Russians won easily in this event. Japan was third and Canada fourth.
The IOC’s own rules state that the end of each sporting event must be followed by the Athlete’s Medal.
