“These allegations against us are absurd,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Siromolotov said in a statement, accusing Washington of engaging in a “new eruption of russophobia in the context of the situation in Ukraine.”

“We call on senior White House officials to stop the spread of dangerous unsolicited allegations,” he said.

Joe Biden said Monday that it was “patriotic” duty for American companies to better protect themselves from computer attacks by Russia in response to Western sanctions imposed on Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine.

“Russia is ready to take action against us (…). Russia has significant IT resources and that will happen,” he said.

According to the White House, these computer attacks could target important infrastructure owned and operated, especially under the auspices of the American private sector.
