Republican voters in West Virginia on Tuesday chose a supporter of Donald Trump to represent them in the midterm elections in November, but the former president saw a primary defeat in Nebraska.

These two less urbanized states tend to be Republican, and the winning candidates from these primaries have every chance of being elected in the fall. So in order to strengthen the support that Donald Trump is already gaining in Congress or local executives, he will have to count his forces if he wants to go back to conquer the White House in 2024.
In Nebraska, Donald Trump was officially behind the candidacy of sixty-year-old Charles Herbster, who earned his fortune in breeding. The man, who is running for governor, has accused eight women of sexual harassment, including a locally elected official, who has denied the N block.
But voters eventually chose his rival, Jim Pillen, as expected New York Times And CNN after counting 93% of the vote. Mr. Pillen, a senior Conservative university official, was backed by incumbent Governor Pete Ricketts, who missed out on re-election after two terms.
In West Virginia, in a preliminary contest Tuesday as a result of redistricting, the former Republican president decided to support Alex Mooney, the delegate who won over another Republican, David McKinley.
Here, too, Donald Trump’s choice was not to the liking of state Governor Jim Justice, who offered his support to Mr McKinley.
The former president was annoyed by Joe Biden’s vote for a major infrastructure restoration program and his support for setting up a commission of inquiry into the January 6, 2021 attack on the capital.
“I love West Virginia. Congratulations to Alex Mooney on his big win !!! ” Mr Trump has responded to his new social network, Truth Social.
In all, a dozen American states will hold “mid-term” primaries in May to determine who will be their Republican candidate for the midterm legislative elections.
Donald Trump has already won in Ohio, JD Vance has won, he is not actually his fol, but has the ability to seek and gain the support of a billionaire who has turned into politics.
Republicans are closely watching the results of Trump candidates in Nebraska and West Virginia to understand the real impact of the former president on their party.
