“Going forward, I plan to donate almost all of my wealth to the foundation. I will finally disappear from the world’s richest list,” Bill Gates shared in a tweet on July 13.
As I look to the future, I plan to give away all my wealth to a foundation. I will go down and eventually out of the world’s richest list.

Since 1994, Bill Gates and his ex-wife, entrepreneur and philanthropist Melinda French Gates, have donated US$39 billion to the Gates Foundation.
Microsoft founder Warren Buffett took the same opportunity to thank the foundation for its incredible philanthropy. Since 2006, the CEO of investment firm Berkshire Hathaway has donated more than $35 billion, including $3.1 billion in 2022.
“Although the foundation bears our names, half of our resources come from Warren Buffett, added Bill Gates. His incredible philanthropy largely explains why the foundation has been able to remain so prestigious. I cannot express how much I appreciate his friendship and his advice.
