Actress, model or headliner French singer Dani died on Monday at the age of 77, her manager Lambert Boudier told AFP on Tuesday.
The artist died “of an illness” in the region of Tours (centre) where she lived, we learn from the same source. She just finished the tour of her last album “Horizons Dores” and she has already finished the preparation of the new album.
Dani chose to call this new disc “Attention Depart”. “We were warned, she forgot to tell us it was imminent,” her professional entourage wrote in a Facebook message.
We can further read, “Nothing was more important to her than creating, singing, being around those she loved.” “Dani has inspired so many artists – photographers, filmmakers, lyricists, composers, directors – because of her powerful breath of life, her whole nature, overflowing with love and energy”, adds its management again.
Dani was the queen of “Paris by night” in the 70s at the helm of L’Aventure, the trendy nightclub, the French version of New York’s legendary Studio 54.
Francois Truffaut nominated her for the role of Lilian in “The American Night”, an Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 1974.
In 1987, the former Ye muse described her descent into hell in “Drogue La Galère.”
Shunned by record companies due to her frequent visits to artificial havens, she returned to the stage in 2001 thanks to singer Etienne Dahoe. The title created for her gave her the opportunity to sing on “Like a Boomerang”. By Serge Gainsbourg but failed at Eurovision and was forgotten.
Since then, she has regained an iconic status, which has troubled her. “There’s a frozen side when I feel like I’m in motion”, she told AFP in 2020. She liked to talk about her “unusual career” as a model, singer, actress, magazine editor, florist.
