Actor Matthew Lewis, best known for his role as Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter film series, may not have fallen in love with Air Canada.
In a series of tweets, the British comedian addressed harsh criticism of the airline, including calling it the “worst in North America.”
The 33-year-old actor said he learned less than two minutes before boarding that there was not much room for him in first class due to an overbooking issue.
An Air Canada employee tears up his ticket in front of his eyes, indicating that the flight is full.
Matthew Lewis was told to contact the airline’s customer service department for further clarification or a refund. However, it was in Toronto, while the actor had his turn at the airport in Orlando, Florida.
The comedian claimed that he has not received any emails or offers to book another flight.
“She tore up my first class ticket outside the gate, gave me an economy class ticket and left. She didn’t say a word. I had to call her back to ask her: Why? ” explains Neville’s narrator.
In response to Matthew Lewis’ first tweet, Air Canada wrote that they regret the issues the actor mentioned. The airline asked him to write a private message explaining the story in detail.
Mr. Lewis also replied to a user who claimed Air Canada service had declined due to the pandemic, saying he didn’t see how much worse the situation could get. He claimed to be on WestJet on the return journey to the UK.
Even those who camped Neville Longbottom bemoaned the scourge of overbooking.
“How did we as a society allow overbooking to become something we accept as normal? It’s crazy,” said Matthew Lewis.
However, the actor clarified that his acerbic comments were not aimed at Canada, a country he adores, he assured.
