Francois Boudreault, who spent more than 20 years at Caisse Depot, has just jumped to become a partner at Idealist Capital, an investment firm started by former members of Power Corporation and the law firm Stikeman Elliott.

“He co-led a team of global investment professionals with a mandate to manage a diverse portfolio of direct private investments in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. He has invested more than $5 billion across multiple sectors and served on numerous boards,” Idealist Capital said in a statement.
Strong support from the state
Launched last month, Idealist has so far raised $250 million, including $35 million from Investments Quebec (IQ) and an undisclosed amount from Fondaction CSN.
Mr. Idealist Capital is “100% independent” from Power Corporation. La Rochelle assured.
Note that Pierre LaRochelle chairs the boards of Lion Electric and LMPG (LumenPulse). IQ’s big boss, Guy LeBlanc, already sits on Lion’s board, while Finance Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon is already a member of LumenPulse. Finally, the minister’s former agent, Michel Ringuet, currently sits on the boards of both companies.
Advisor to Lion CEO Marc Bedard Idealist is former IQ and Hydro-Québec employee Karim Jagib.
