Minister Genevieve Guilbault made the decision Tuesday to curtail her mission to Sweden and return to Quebec earlier than planned to handle the crisis affecting SAAQ since the launch of the SAAQclic web portal.

Since last Wednesday, the transport minister has been sent to Europe to learn more about sustainable mobility.

Long lines formed in front of several SAAQ service points, such as the one at Place Longueuil, as the state-owned company resumed operations after a hiatus of nearly a month.

SAAQ’s failures have caused access to services problems for motorists, while the company’s offices have been occupied by large numbers of customers for nearly three weeks.
Some have admitted to driving with an expired driving license after repeated visits to the company office to no avail.
Last Sunday, the company announced the addition of 150 additional employees and extended working hours to meet demand.
The hot seats were promised Tuesday in Henri-Bourassa’s office.
SAAQ promised to return to normal in April.
