The richest man in the world... keeps getting richer

The world’s richest Frenchman Bernard Arnault’s wealth increased by $12 billion to $210 billion as of Thursday.

On the day of this announcement, according to the “New York Post”, French demonstrators tried to access his office in protest. Bernard Arnault, 74, was targeted as President Emmanuel Macron recently sought to push back the retirement age from 62 to 64 to ensure the stability of the pension system.

But the protesters are demanding that millionaires pay more.

Bernard Arnault, CEO and chairman of LVMH, now surpasses Elon Musk, the world’s second richest man, with a fortune of nearly $30 billion. According to Bloomberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is the third richest person in the world with $126 billion.

Arnault’s fortunes saw a fresh boost to their fortunes as LVMH shares hit a record high in Paris on Thursday. The company reported sales boosted by China’s economic reopening for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic. LVMH-owned brands include Tiffany & Co., Christian Dior, Fendi and Louis Vuitton.
