Laval restaurant customers who didn’t pay their bill during their last visit to Carlos & Pepes were busted by the branch’s owner.

Harold Brunet-Stringer, a businessman who heads a restaurant in Centropolis, turned to social networks to identify offending customers.

Four men in their twenties failed to pay their bill of more than $200.

After images from surveillance cameras were published the same evening, they were identified.

“An hour later, I got 200 shares in ‘Post’. There were hundreds of people who wrote to me, they already had names, so we found them,” he said, noting that it took about 30 minutes to identify the four customers.

“We have people’s names and their Instagrams and their information.”

Faced with the magnitude of the situation, the group showed up the next day at a restaurant in the heart of Laval to pay their receipt, instead of tipping the server.

“Well, you saw my ‘partner’ came to the restaurant yesterday and they [les clients] Maybe tried calling, but we’re closed for the day. They called in the evening to apologize and they ended up paying the bill,” Brunet-Stringer said.

However, the payment did not come happily as the group of friends were unwilling to pay for the dishes they prepared while on the run.

“[Quand] They ordered food, knowing the waiter was going to order food back […] They ordered the food, they were waiting there [aille] Back in order, they then left without receiving their dishes […] They didn’t want to pay for the food,” the owner of Carlos & Pepes in Laval told our journalist Kevin Crane-Desmarais, who assured us that he had not filed a police report for the young criminals’ gesture.

TVA joined Nouvelles as one of the customers affected by the crime said he regretted what he had done, saying the case had left him with many concerns.

Condemning this type of theft, the Association Restaurante Quebec (ARQ) has asked restaurants to denounce these unfortunate circumstances.

“It remains a criminal act, it is theft. As in the situation there people leave without paying voluntarily, since this is a criminal act, we recommend calling the police so that there is a file, especially if we have pictures of the criminals”, emphasized its vice president Martin Vezina.
