The ambitious action plan presented by Hydro-Québec president and CEO Michel Sabia does not include water, maintains Jean-Pierre Finet’s analyst at the Regroupement des Organismes Environment en Energie.

“This is not a good plan to decarbonize Quebec. It doesn’t do the job at all! ” he declared in an interview with LCN.
“It’s not viable and it’s not logical, especially since we don’t even know how we’re going to finance this plan because Mr. Legault decided to limit occupancy rate increases to 3%. Nothing is lost, nothing is created,” he added.
According to Mr. Finet, Hydro-Québec misidentified the province’s needs; Moreover, the target of production growth is unrealistic.
“To think that we can even achieve the level of industrial development that we have seen recently is a complete delusion. We have to make choices,” says Jean-Pierre Finet.
Michael Sabia’s plan has alarmed analysts from the Regroupement des Organismes Environmental en Energie.
“Quebec is not an all-you-can-eat buffet for businesses to come in and take away all the natural resources we have and install nuclear power here and there. We have to have control over it,” he declared.
The latter is feared by Hydro-Québec’s CEO’s desire to break the state company’s monopoly.
“We are no longer masters of our own house. If we let them it will be an energy wild west,” laments Mr Finet.
