Specialty coffee shop employees are accredited with the Union of Catering Employees-CSN through the decision of the Administrative Labor Tribunal.

Employees at the Starbucks at 1331 Boulevard Talbot in Chicoutimi wanted “an improvement in their working conditions.”

CSN President, Carolyn Senneville, called the branch’s thirty employees a “success.”

“As is so often the case with multi-billion dollar multinational companies, anti-union practices are almost part of the Starbucks brand identity. The company is notorious for its determination to prevent its workers around the world from exercising their rights and even their freedom of expression! So today’s victory extends beyond Quebec and Canada. Chicoutimi employees are no longer alone in confronting their employer, they can now count on the strength of their 330,000 supporters across the country!» she emphasized through the press release.
