“The issues faced over the last six months must be taken seriously and we must ensure that consumers are well informed. It is imperative to improve the system,” Minister Genevieve Guilbault said Monday morning.

Her office has assured that she is in contact with REM and Regional Metropolitan Transport Authority (ARTM) teams following last week's breakdowns.

“It's been a week with a combination of bad circumstances,” summed up Jean-Marc Arbaud, president and CEO of CDPQ Infra, which hosts REM at Paul Arcand's microphone at 98.5 FM.

REM is not responsible for Saturday's latest breakdown, but the Samuel-de-Champlain Bridge is responsible for emergency ice-breaking operations. “We have no choice but to abide by their decisions,” defended Mr. Arbad.

He still noted that three other outages, including twice IT problems, were due to system problems.

“There are a lot of breakdowns in this. The response in case of breakdown is very long and therefore we are not satisfied with the performance of our subcontractors, Alstom and Atkins on this issue,” he said on the show. Because we have to get up.
