[EN VIDÉO] A Boeing 737 engine cover tears off mid-flight

Passengers on a Southwest Airlines flight to Houston were in a panic on Sunday.

In a video published on X, a Boeing 737 is seen breaking apart mid-flight. A metal sheet covering one of the plane's engines was torn off during takeoff.

After the crew realized the situation, the plane quickly returned to its starting point in Denver.

The United States Aviation Federation said in a statement that the plane's engine cowling hit the wing during takeoff.

The transport company apologized.

“We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the delay. Our maintenance teams are inspecting the aircraft,” she said.

This is the second incident this week for American Airlines. On Thursday, another Boeing 737 reported an “engine incident” before takeoff.

Fortunately, no one was injured in either incident.
