(Toronto) Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has fired its chief financial officer, Nadine Ahn, following an investigation into her relationship with another employee.
RBC said it recently became aware of the allegations involving Mme According to a statement released Friday evening, Ahn and an internal review have been initiated while external counsel has been contacted to investigate.
The investigation revealed that Mme Ahn had a “close, undisclosed personal relationship” with another employee who received preferential treatment, including promotions and pay raises, in violation of the bank's code of conduct.
Mme Both Ahn and the other employee were fired after the review.
RBC assures that the investigation found no evidence that the conduct of the two targeted individuals had an impact on the financial statements, strategy or financial or commercial performance of the bank.
Catherine Gibson, who most recently served as RBC's senior vice president of finance and controller, has been named interim chief financial officer, effective immediately, while a permanent successor is sought.
