Names, first names, contact details, information on banking products… Around ten customers of the National Bank (BN) were “affected by unauthorized access to their internet banking solution” last November.
“They are [les clients] All are informed. All amounts of attempted fraud have been recovered. No customer has suffered any financial impact,” indicated Jean-Francois Cadieux, spokesman for the National Bank (BN).
“As a precaution, we have extended the protections of Equifax and TransUnion credit bureaus to affected consumers,” he added.
So far, according to surveillance conducted by BN, the stolen information has not been found on the secret internet.
Affected entrepreneurs
In mid-October, News magazine Dozens of Quebec entrepreneurs have revealed that they had hundreds of thousands of dollars stolen by a computer hacker left behind by a national bank.
Defrauded customers at the National Bank were given reimbursement, but some were left bitter and sent a formal notice to BN for compensation.
