The proportion of young Quebecers with an anxiety-depressive disorder will peak, with 8.4% of 15- to 29-year-olds receiving a diagnosis in 2021-2022. According to an update of the index published by the Institute of Statistics of Quebec on Friday, women are twice as affected as men.
Data shows that in 2021-2022, 11.8% of women and 5.2% of men will suffer from an anxiety-depressive disorder. This includes depression, bipolar illness, panic disorders, generalized anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorders.
The percentage of youth with an anxiety-depressive disorder has continued to rise since 2017-2018, when 5.9% of youth ages 15 to 29 were diagnosed.
Certain age groups are more likely to suffer from anxiety-depressive disorder. According to recent data, 25-29 year olds have the highest prevalence and 15-19 year olds have the lowest prevalence.

A person is considered to be suffering from anxiety-depressive disorders within a year if he or she receives such a diagnosis recorded in the hospital client database of the Ministry of Health and Social Services or recorded in the medical file. Services paid on a fee-for-service basis.
