UAW complaint against Trump, Musk over worker comments

UAW complaint against Trump, Musk over worker comments

The Republican National Committee showed some openness to the union movement by inviting Teamsters President Sean O'Brien to speak at its Milwaukee meeting. But Donald Trump may have shown his party's true face toward union workers in his conversation with Elon Musk on Monday evening, praising the latter's handling of the Tesla strike.

“You are the biggest cutter [de travailleurs] “, Announced Trump in an appreciative tone. “I see what you are doing. You come in and say, “Do you want to stop?” I won't name the company, but they went on strike and you tell them, “Never mind, you're all fired.” »

The day after that conversation, the United Auto Workers, the largest union for auto workers, filed a federal lawsuit against Trump and Musk over their comments. According to the union, the comments threatened workers at Tesla or the Trump campaign who wanted to join the union.

“When we say Donald Trump the shellWhat we mean. When we say Trump is against everything our union stands for, we mean it. Announced Shawn Fine, UAW president, in a statement. “Donald Trump is always on the side of struggling workers and on the side of billionaires like Elon Musk. »

The Trump campaign said the UW complaint was nothing more than a political stunt after it had already announced its support for Kamala Harris and aired the ad against Trump.
