Cryptocurrency platform co-founded by Trump: AMF does not receive registration request

Quebec's financial markets watchdog has not received a registration request from World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency platform co-founded by former president Donald Trump, and has refused to participate in its business model.

“As we have not received any registration or exemption request from this platform, we have not studied its business model and therefore cannot comment,” said. Newspaper Sylvain Theberge, spokesman for the Financial Markets Authority (AMF), said on Wednesday.

“Certain platforms that facilitate the trading of cryptocurrencies must comply with applicable securities regulations. These platforms must be registered with the AMF as a regulated broker or investment broker,” he added.

You can consult the list of platforms registered in Quebec and those that have submitted a pre-registration commitment on the AMF website on the following page: https://lautorite.qc.ca/grand-public/registres/plateformes-de-negociation-de-cryptoactif

Humble beginnings

Last Tuesday, World Liberty Financial launched modestly. Only 3% of tokens found buyers in the first hours.

The tokens sold by Trump's team can be used as cryptos or even as NFTs (Digital Property Titles).

At the end of September, Press Rug Radio founder Qubesar Farokh Sarmad tells the story of being chosen by the Trump team to announce World Liberty Financial's digital currencies.
