Amazon’s first successful hub and second delivery station in the Edmonton area opened in August, creating more than 600 full – time jobs in Alberta, the company said.
The new customer fulfillment center in Ledak County is Amazon’s second fulfillment facility in Alberta. The first is in Rocky View County and has about 1,500 full-time colleagues. Calgary has two delivery stations and plans to open a new sorting center in Balzac.
The Ledak Center is Amazon’s 11th in Canada.
The company now has over 2,500 full- and part-time employees across the province.

Workers at the new million-square-foot fulfillment center pick up, pack, and ship large items for customers.
“We have known for a long time the positive effects that Amazon will bring to Ledak County, with both direct effects through job creation and indirect effects from boosting the local economy,” Ledak County Mayor Tanni Doblanko said.
“It is a pleasure to hear that the Fulfillment Center operates and operates over 600 Alberts. It came at a time when many of us could use the good news, and we are absolutely proud to be a part of it.”
The company’s second delivery station in Edmonton has a size of over 100,000 square feet. Packages are shipped from Amazon fulfillment centers to delivery stations, where they are sorted and then loaded into vehicles for delivery.
“Amazon has become an important owner in our area, creating hundreds of jobs at their two facilities following the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Ledak-Beaumont MLA Brad Rutherford.
To celebrate the opening, Amazon Story donated to Children’s Hospital and Edmontons Food Bank.
Amazon said all facilities, including physical and distance guides, follow health and safety protocols during the epidemic.
“Throughout operations, Amazon has invested more than $ 800 million in security measures such as temperature checks, masks, improved cleaning, gloves, sanitation and onsite testing in the first half of this year,” the company said in a news release Wednesday.
