It happens all the time – you get a song stuck in your head, try to hum to friends and no one has a clue what you are talking about. From a TV show, radio or store – you’ll be thinking about it until you finally hear its snatch again. Now, Google has a new way Figure out for yourself. You can now tune, sing or whistle on your phone.

The technology of matching tones to a database of songs detected by singing, humming and whistles – rather than just lyrics – has existed for over a decade and is a staple of the Soundhound music app As of 2009.

To start using Google’s new feature, grab your phone and open the latest version of the Google app or Google search widget. Then, press Microphone Icon and “What is this song?” You can also press Search the song Button. Finally, start tuning, singing or whistling to get your results.

If you are using Google Assistant, “Hey Google, what’s this song?” And then start humming the tune. Google will show you the most results based on the tune you hummed. You can choose to listen to the song and see if it gets stuck in your head.

Google announced the new feature on Thursday and made it available to the iPhone worldwide (99 699 at Amazon) And Android users. It is currently available for iPhone users in English and Android in more than 20 languages. Note that this new tool only works on mobile devices, so at this point, it will not work on you Google Home or Nest speakers.
