Air Canada pilots agreed to a tentative contract with the airline on Thursday, eliminating the risk of a future strike.
Pilots voted 67% in favor of a new four-year collective agreement, the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) announced in X.
“Air Canada pilots have accepted the agreement in principle. “Thank you to all pilots who took the time to learn about the new contract and vote,” ALPA wrote.
The airline also responded in principle to this agreement. “We welcome the ratification by pilots of a new four-year collective agreement, which recognizes their contributions and lays the foundation for the airline's growth,” Air Canada said.
In a press release, Michael Rousseau, president and CEO of Air Canada, said it was a “win-win agreement” that would provide “a balance between professional and personal lives” for the approximately 5,200 pilots.
This four-year collective agreement will be applied retroactively until September 30, 2023, it said.
