Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Vacations workers were also affected.
Ottawa has previously indicated that it intends to make compulsory vaccinations for employees in the federally controlled air, rail and marine transport departments before November 1st.
Air Canada is mandating that all of its staff be vaccinated by October 30, as well as declaring vaccine status.
“The mandatory vaccination policy does not offer screening tests as a replacement measure,” the carrier said in a statement Wednesday. Air Canada fulfills its responsibilities to employees who are not vaccinated for valid reasons such as medical issues. However, non-payment of full vaccinations by October 30, 2021, excluding employees eligible for accommodation, can have consequences up to unpaid leave or termination of employment.
