Allouts no longer want John Bowman

The Montreal Allies decided it was time to separate their path and John Bowman’s path.

Quebec announced on Friday that it would not award a new contract to the 38-year-old defensive end.

He next played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for 14 seasons with the Aloyts. He is also the leader with 134 wins in club history in terms of quarterbacks. He was a major contributor to the Gray Cup victories in 2009 and 2010 led by Mark Trestman.

Bowman was selected to the CFL All-Star Team in 2010 and 2015 and to the Eastern Conference on nine occasions.

“It’s not so easy to make such a decision when it comes to one of the greatest players in the history of the company. I want to thank John for everything he has done for Aloysius and the city of Montreal. Manager Danny Maciosia said in a statement from his company.

To pay tribute to Bowman, the Montreal team will hold a “Celebration of His Victory” as spectators enter the Percival-Molson Stadium.

The veteran’s next destination is currently unknown, as he may even choose a well-qualified retiree. Prior to joining Montreal, Bowman played his college football at Wingate University in North Carolina.

Never drafted into the NFL, he played two seasons in indoor football leagues before joining Sparrows in 2006.
