Letter published in “The Lancet Regional Health – Europe”: The omission of the vaccinated population as a potential and relevant source of transmission appears to be grossly negligent when making decisions on public health control measures.
Highlights from this article identified by the Reinfocovid team:
- The share of vaccinated people in the transmission of Kovid-19 is constantly increasing
- People who have not been vaccinated can spread the disease to people who have not been vaccinated for contact at home
- The maximum viral load is the same between vaccinated and non-vaccinated
- In the UK, those who have been vaccinated are more likely to get covid than those who have not been vaccinated over the age of 30.
- In one Israeli cluster formed by the vaccine, 14 vaccinated individuals had severe forms and some died, while only two non-vaccinated individuals had mild forms.
The omission of the vaccinated population as a potential and relevant source of transmission appears to be grossly negligent when making decisions on public health control measures.

Literary translation of the letter:
High rates COVID-19 vaccine Reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission in the population by reducing the number of potential transmission resources and, therefore, reduce the COVID-19 disease burden.
However, according to recent data, people who have been vaccinated against Kovid-19 have calculated the prevalence of the disease.
In the UK, the rate of secondary attack between exposed household contacts for fully vaccinated individuals was reported to be similar to exposed household contacts for non-vaccinated individuals (25% for vaccinated and 23% for non-vaccinated). Of the 31 infections (39%) of fully contacted household contacts, 12 were from fully vaccinated and epidemiologically related individuals. The maximum viral load does not vary by vaccine status or variant type.
In Germany, the rate of symptomatic cases of COVID-19 in fully vaccinated individuals (“progressive infections”) has been reported weekly since July 21, 2021, and is 16.9% in patients 60 years of age and older. This ratio is increasing week by week and was 58.9% on October 27, 2021 (Figure 1), clearly demonstrating the growing importance of fully vaccinated individuals. A similar situation has been described for the United Kingdom. Between 39 and 42 weeks, a total of 100,160 COVID-19 cases were reported in citizens aged 60 or older. And 89,821 (89.7%) of those who were fully vaccinated and 3,395 (3.4%) of those who were not vaccinated. One week ago, the rate of COVID-19 cases was 100,000 higher than in the non-vaccinated subgroup of all ages aged 30 years or older.
In Israel, a nosocomial infection was reported involving 16 health workers, 23 patients and two family members. Source is a patient who has been fully vaccinated against Kovid-19. The vaccination rate was 96.2% in all exposed individuals (151 health workers and 97 patients). Fourteen patients who were fully vaccinated became seriously ill or died, and two patients who were not vaccinated became mildly ill.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified four of the five counties with the highest percentage (99.9-84.3%) of the fully immunized population as “high” transmission counties. Many policymakers speculate that vaccinated individuals may be excluded as a source of transmission. The omission of the vaccinated population as a potential and relevant source of transmission appears to be grossly negligent when making decisions on public health control measures.
