An Indian inventor who modified his vehicle using helicopter parts to make a flying car has had his machine impounded because he lacked the necessary permits.
Huffington Post reports that Ishwar Deen has attached parts to the helicopter, including a rotor blade and tail boom, and is ready to paint his flying car.
“I took the car to a body shop for painting, but the police fined me 2,000 rupees ($32, editor's note) and asked me to remove the helicopter parts, which I was told was not allowed,” Mr Deen said.
“This type of vehicle plies in many places like Bihar or Pratapgarh and nobody stops them, but I am banned from using it,” he denied in Asian News International.
Police in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh justified their decision by pointing out that the motorist had no right to drive his modified machine, as the Deputy Superintendent of Police clarified.
“During a routine check, traffic police officers stopped a modified car, whose owner had not obtained any permission from the concerned services to modify it,” reports Vishal Pandey, according to Huffington Post.
