Another step towards the realization of high frequency rail

The competition is on: Companies in the race to create plans for the High Frequency Rail (TGF) to link Quebec City to Toronto have been selected.

Three consortia aim to move to the next stage: Cadence, which brings together four companies, representing ten interurban railway developers and another five that are part of QConnection Rail Partners.

Detailed project submissions can be submitted from September through next summer.
However, there are criteria that must be met, including the number of base stops.

“We definitely have Montreal, Trois-Rivières and Laval. Then, we will discuss the possibility of including other stops,” recalled Pablo Rodriguez, Canadian Heritage Minister and Lt.-Gen.

The announcement reassures residents of Trois-Rivières, who are officially considered a priority.

“It brings us closer to the big centers. This allows us to think about improvement, in terms of Trifluvian’s quality of life,” added Jean Lamarche, mayor of Trois-Rivières.

Ministers have been careful about the cost of the project. This compares to REM, which costs $7 billion: TGF is four or five times bigger in terms of infrastructure. What to think that ten crores will be required for it to appear with us.
