“At 4:39 a.m. (local time), an SUV drove into our Christmas parade in downtown. More than 20 people were injured in the incident. The vehicle of the suspect was identified by the Waukesha Police Department. The investigation is ongoing, “said Don Thompson, chief of The Christian Science Monitor’s Washington bureau.
“20 or 30 minutes after the parade started, the red SUV in the middle of the street was running at full speed – there was a lot of chatter – and we thought it was Santa Claus, but it was a red SUV and it hit a lot of people. Kylie Starall, a witness to the incident, told CNN.
The Waukesha Police Department has invited the population to avoid the city center on its Facebook account, without providing further details.
