Avoid the hurricane trap

The Carolina Hurricanes beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 on Wednesday night at the United Center to stay unbeaten this season.

With nine consecutive wins to start the season, “Cannes” is just one step away from equaling the All-Time National Hockey League record. It was founded by Toronto Maple Leafs 1993-1994 and Buffalo Sabers from 2006-2007.

Halfway through the game, the Blackhawks took a 3-1 lead.

With his first goal in the National Hockey League (NHL), Seth Jarvis changed the pace of the game. The visitors were fueled by Derek Stepan, who scored first, beating 19-year-old Mark-Andre Fleury with a fine fend.

Just 17 seconds into the third period, Jesper tied the fast game. Three minutes later, Martin Necas scored the winning goal with a stunning shot from the Quebec goalkeeper between the pads.

Across the ice, Frederick Anderson recorded his eighth win in several starts. He blocked 27 puck against the Hawks.

Already 20 points for drysight

In Edmonton, the Oilers beat the Nashville Predators 5-2, with Leon Driesight scoring twice on an assist.

The German, who won the Art-Ross Trophy in 2019-2020, reached the 20-point plateau (nine goals and 11 assists) after just nine games. He was ahead in the column of his teammate Connor McDavid pointers, who gave him a point.

Draisaitl opened the power-play score in the first frame and then at the beginning of the third period hitting the winning net with an accurate shot as sharp as it could.

The Oilers offensive talent gave goaltender Connor Ingram a tough time, only making his second start in the NHL. The 24-year-old Dorman performed 25 parades, while Kyler Yamamoto and Devin Shore also failed. Jesse Pulzujarvi completed the score on the empty net.

Miko Koskinen blocked 30 of the Predators’ 32 shots for his sixth win of the season.
